Geopathic Stress in a term for the energies that emerge from the earth that cause ill health and discomfort in human beings. The earth has a natural magnetic field; it acts as though it has a large magnet at its centre. The rotation of the earth creates electric currents in the molten metals found within the earth’s core, thereby producing a magnetic field. Geopathic stress occurs when the earth’s magnetic field is disturbed, either naturally or artificially, and the background field we normally experience is changed.

Geopathic Stress is a hideous phenomenon; one cannot see or feel it adequately, but its effects are as devastating as environmental pollution, to say the least. These energies can pass through the windows, even closed doors or even walls- they don’t recognize boundaries. The effect of Geopathic Energies remains insignificant until the exposure to it remains short-lived. Despite this, some people show symptoms of tiredness, inattention & headaches & fatigue in some rare cases, when seated in a geopathically stressed areas even for a couple of hours.

Rolf Gordon, the founder of the Dulwich Health Society, UK, has remarked that gypsies rarely get cancer. Gordon believes that this is because they move from place to place and any exposure to a ‘bad’ place would be for only a couple of weeks at most. He also notes that when choosing a site gypsies will take into account the feel of a place.

Symptoms of Geopathic Stress:

Natural intrusion to the earth’s magnetic field includes geological faults, underground ore masses and underground water, specifically running waters. Earthquakes and running underground water can slowly erode rock and have a destabilizing effect on the earth’s magnetic field. Gordon says: “Natural radiation which rise up through the earth are distorted by weak electromagnetic fields created by subterranean running water, create mineral concentrations, fault lines and underground cavities. The wavelength of the natural radiation disturbed in this way becomes harmful to living organisms.” The Human-made disturbances in the earth’s magnetic field include foundations for skyscrapers & tall buildings, mining, underground transport systems and public utilities such as sewage, water, etc.

In addition to today’s fast-paced stressful life where there is lack of exercise, lack of proper rest & relaxation on timely basis, poor nutrition, poor sleep, living in toxic environment, limited contact with Natural Healers, isolation, etc. the Geopathic Stress worsens up the damage on health. Initial symptoms are noticeable after a short-term exposure, inclusive of :

  • Dislike of bed or reluctance to go to bed
  • Inability to fall asleep for hours
  • Restlessness while sleeping
  • Nightmares
  • Moving about in the bed
  • Falling out of bed
  • Sleepwalking
  • Sweating at night
  • Freezing whilst in bed
  • Fatigue in the morning
  • Lethargy
  • Low performance levels
  • Sensitivity to weather changes
  • General agitation & tension
  • Difficulty in concentration
  • Headaches
  • Failure at work
  • Lack of appetite
  • Ill-humour
  • Nervousness
  • Uneasiness
  • Depression
  • Crying after waking up
  • Cramps or heart beating whilst on bed
According to Kathe Bachler in her book, “Discoveries of a Dowser”, even a single symptom of Geopathic Stress is an indicator, but often more are present.
